Critics in Conversation: The Critic and The Actor


Manuela: Speaking of humans and of self-awareness, I think the latter is especially useful when writing about how the former is utilised in films: writing about actors is especially perilous. The craft of acting is all about truthful behaviour, which means that the best performances are invisible — they look like people just existing! How can you write interestingly about something that, at its best, is seamless and true-to-life?
